The demon Ekhmez ripped out the heart of America's supernatural defenders and strengthened their foes. The agencies of the Omicron branch of the US government face a newly expanded threat with their resources stretched to the breaking point.
To hold the line, newly promoted Commander David White of ONSET is sent to forge an alliance with the Elfin Conclave, a supernatural organization with its own history, grudges and politics.
When violence wracks the Conclave and guts the allies they sought, David White must hunt the Elfin's foes across the Pacific northwest, taking any help that comes his way--because when the world is on fire, can you turn away your enemy's enemy?
ONSET My Enemy Enemy Volume 2 Glynn Stewart Books
While To Serve and Protect did the world - building, and character introduction, MY Enemy's Enemy fleshes out the characters, provides a full plot and mission, continues the development of David White as protagonist and hero of this series, and puts his stamp on the ONSET organization. The series now becomes as complex and entertaining as Stewart's Starship Mage best-selling books. With the villains the evil monsters of the demon rift, the action is hellish. White and his team must find allies from the supernatural world but it's not clear who the good guys are.
Although I get to read and proof his books as ARCs, I buy them anyway for my collection because his writing is that good. You should read them in order but in My Enemy's Enemy, Stewart really hits his stride. He is not the first to envision a government agency created to fight the demon hords, but it is an excellent and fun read from this genre. Highly recommended!

ONSET My Enemy Enemy Volume 2 Glynn Stewart Books Reviews
Another great Onset read. Spoiler alert.
This one starts with demons in an apartment complex and Commander White and his strike team thirteen clearing them out. The teams are being run ragged because they lost loads of team members with the black sun operation. Onset is using everyone to try to cover their lack of strike teams.
The Committee, who are a bunch of political idiots, don't seem to see a problem. Of course they sit safe in their DC offices while White and the rest of the teams do the dirty work of keeping America safe from demons and those coming out of the cracked Seal.
In order to beef up the Onset ranks White and his team will be body guards to the Elfin Conclave. Elf's are paranormal warriors and mages. Two of them Langley and Riley are pushing for the Elfin Conclave to back Onset and become team members.
Once on site team thirteen will be responsible for security. It all goes wrong when vamps invade.
So begins another damned fine read.
This one has David, Kate, Riley, Charles the oh so smart dragon, team thirteen,, a traitor among the elves, a battle that has specific targets, the attackers who leave, the Elf Council who blame White for the attack, a White who finds out there is far more to the attack that they thought and David White doing his best to save who he can, protect America, survive and stay alive.
Five Stars
Often with a new series, especially if the first book is a hit, the second book will suffer from the "sophomore slump", an inability to live up to the first effort, in this case the first book in the series, ONSET To Serve and Protect. Fortunately for Stewart's readers, this is not the case with ONSET My Enemy's Enemy. The book opens with a bang and never slows down.
In the aftermath of David White's defeat of the demon Ekhmez, the ONSET agent finds himself promoted to Commander of an elite strike team of enhanced humans and at the forefront of the battle to protect the mundane citizens of the United States - and also to keep them in ignorance of the supernatural forces that surround them. This task is made harder because the battle with Ekhmez gutted the ranks of paranormal protectors and their human support staff and Ekhmez, while defeated, managed to weaken the Seal of Solomon. With Solomon's Seal weakened magic is leaking back into our realm, making it easier for demons to cross over into our world, and also bringing out latent powers in humans and awakening supernatural creatures - creatures out of legend - that have slumbered for millennia away from the sight of humanity.
Against this background of turmoil and change, David White is sent to head up security at a summit between the U.S. Government's Omicron Agency, the organization tasked with dealing with all things paranormal, and the Elvin Conclave, an organization of private supernatural citizens, inspired by the world of Tolkien, with its own history and internal political structure. The purpose of the summit - to forge an agreement between the two groups that will result in Elven support in Omicron's fight against paranormal enemies of the people of the United States.
A vicious and overwhelming attack while the summit is in session leaves Omicron personnel killed at the hand of rogue Elven agents and four high ranking Elven lords dead. With the summit in shambles and ONSET's future ability to serve and protect the unknowing citizenry of the U.S. at stake, White and his team are given seven days to find and deliver the traitor responsible.
What follows is enough action for anyone and in the process we find out more about this new world Stewart has created. This book is a fun read - popcorn fiction at its best and I mean that in a truly complementary fashion. Sometimes I was to just read a book that is fun a good plot, likable characters, lots of action, and conflict between good and evil (where good triumphs because of the inherent nobility of the protagonist). ONSET My Enemy's Enemy delivers.
